Vintage Dragon Shop Hong Kong Chinese Cheongsam Blue Silk Pankou Knot Qipao Dress
This vintage Dragon Shop Hong Kong Chinese cheongsam blue silk pankou knot qipao dress dates from the 1950s. It is made of a bright turquoise blue color silk damask weave fabric with a woven bamboo leaf and Chinese characters of good fortune design. In Chinese culture bamboo is a symbol of Oriental beauty. This beautiful blue Chinese cheongsam dress has a fitted style, knee length with small side slit vents, a stiffened mandarin collar, short cap sleeves, decorative pankou knots, snaps, zipper closures along the side and is fully lined in a matching turquoise blue color fine silk fabric. There is a "Dragon Shop Made in Hong Kong" label sewn inside. Manchu women wore a one-piece dress which were called "qipao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress for Chinese women. The dress measures 39 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 28 inch waist, 36 inch hips, 13 inch neck and 14 1/2 inch back. It is in good condition, with only some loose missing snap closures. This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
